They also need to come out with a new edition every five years or so to sell more books. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford anything I want in terms of the hobby so the prices don't bother me either. WotC is in the same business and I find it funny that players are surprised when they announce a new edition of D&D.

I was wondering more about the balance of the game and if the new rules made flyers over powered to the point that if you don't have them, will you be able to compete with an army that does? I've read a lot of reviews by people who are much more into the tournament scene and many opinions are that you will indeed HAVE to include flyers in an 'all comers' list. Again, the cynical side says this was done to force people to purchase expensive kits to centerpiece their competition armies.

In the end, it doesn't matter to me anyway - I don't play in tournaments and if the flyer rules are fun (I haven't tried them yet) I'll buy the expensive kits. I have a Forge World Ork fighter that I bought years ago, so they'll be the first to benefit from these rules, and I think I have a Vendetta Gunship stashed around here somewhere...quindiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14194306105013871853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937554593589042647.post-10738960734701145862012-07-20T02:08:00.126-04:002012-07-20T02:08:00.126-04:00Games Workshop is in business to make money. That...Games Workshop is in business to make money. That's the truth. And if they didn't make money, they would go out of business.

So they keep coming out with new "toys" for folks' armies and new tweaked rulebooks as well. The resultant sales make them money and keep them in business.

Now this is NOT a knock on GW. I personally find their prices to be much higher than I care to pay so I don't buy their products any more . . . but that doesn't mean that they make bad products or are a bad company.

As long as they make things that enough people are willing to spend money on, the folks who enjoy their games will have their products to enjoy . . . and I have no problem with that.

But do understand that they keep coming out with new "stuff" (including rulebooks) in order to generate sales and make money . . . and, again, that is not a bad thing (at least for GW).

So enjoy, sir. Enjoy.

-- JeffBluebear Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05171345165563779232noreply@blogger.com
